From Marseille to Nice: La Côte d'Azur by Car

Are you considering doing a road trip on the Côte d'Azur? If you said yes, then look no further. This blog post will give you a brief yet comprehensive guideline of what to do to maximize your stay in this beautiful region of France.
First and foremost, you need to rent a car, and there is no better car rental service then Easy Car Booking. You will be able to choose between a minivan, if you are traveling with your family, or even a Mercedes coupe if you are just traveling with a loved one. The choice is yours.
Secondly, what cities should you visit? There are a bunch of cities to visit in the South of France but there just isn’t enough time to visit them all. Below is a list of all the most highly recommended cities that enjoy visits all year round:

·      Marseille à Cassis (45 miles/ 75 km, 1 hour)
Marseille is city full of French history. Whether you are a diehard fan of Alexander Dumas’ novel, The Count of Monte Cristo, or you just want to visit a number of famous sites, then Marseille is an ideal place to visit. Here is a list of all Marseille’s main points of interests.
Cassis is a must-see city for those who are fanatics about wine and beautiful scenery. Cassis is visited year round for their white and rosé wines, but more so for their breathtaking seaside cliffs called les Calanque de Cassis which can be visited by kayak, boat, or on foot.

·      Cassis à St. Tropez (70 miles/ 112 km, 1 hour 40 minutes)
St. Tropez has now become world famous due to the endless celebrity sightings and lavish lifestyle experienced there during the peak season. However, St. Tropez still holds its charm as an authentic French fishing village. If you are a fan of good food, nice beaches, and mega-yachts, then St. Tropez is a must on your list of cities to visit by car.

·      St. Tropez à Théoule-sur-Mer (52miles/ 84 km, 1 hour)
Théoule-sur-Mer is one of the less popular destinations during the summer, but that doesn’t mean it’s a sight worth seeing. This city is blanketed by the rich, red rock of Esterel, over looking the glistening deep blue water of the Mediterranean. The drive through this city resembles a lot to the drive on Pacific Coast Highway in California. You can also spot Pierre Cardin’s world famous house!

·      Théoule-sur-Merà Cannes (8 miles/ 12km, 20 minutes)
Just a short drive away is the magnificent city of Cannes. This city has become world famous mainly due to the Cannes Film Festival that has been around since 1946. Enjoy the luxury and lavish lifestyle of this gem by doing all of the points of interests

·      Cannes à Nice (20 miles/ 33km, 40 minutes)
Nice is the ultimate destination on the French Riviera. Located just next to the airport, this city is nearly twice as big as Cannes and holds its French charm while still being progressive. Nice will be the perfect final destination for your road trip along the Côte d'Azur. Just make sure to see as much as possible!

5 Cities to Visit by Car in the South of France

Welcome to the French Riviera! Where authentic French villages meet luxurious Mediterranean cities. This “must-see” region of France successfully blends the charm of French culture and history with ‘nouveau riche’ and grandeur.
However, there is one thing you need to understand; you aren’t in London anymore!
That means that if you want to get the maximum out of your visit of the French Riviera, you will absolutely need to rent a car. Unlike London where you can visit the majority of the city by just using the metro, the train system in the South of France only stops in the coastal cities, which means that you will miss some of the most famous villages in the area! Easy Car Booking can help you find and rent the most fitting car for your vacation.
Still not convinced that you need a car rental while on the French Riviera? Below I have compiled a list of my favorite cities that you can only visit by car:

St. Paul de Vence is considered to be one of the oldest medieval towns on the French Riviera and is most known for their contemporary and modern art scattered through the village. Located just north of Nice, St. Paul de Vence is a popular destination year round and is widely considered to be the most famous. Unfortunately, you can only access St. Paul de Vence by car or bus.
Eze is a small French village located in Nice that is often times visited by celebrities and royalty throughout the year. It is certainly a village that should be on everyone’s to do list while visiting the Cote d’Azur. Eze is littered with authentic cobblestone, pedestrian-only streets, boutique shops, and has one of the most gorgeous views of the French Riviera. The only way to visit this hidden jewel is by car.
3.    Visit Gourdon by Car
Gourdon was strategically built on top of a hill to defend its citizens during    times of war. With only one entrance, this small village hosts one of the best panoramic views in the South. On the clearest of days, you can see the island of Corsica with the naked eye. Gourdon is known for their specialty items such as their fruit shaped candles, fresh goat cheese and seasoned ‘saucisson’. Although not nearly as popular as St. Paul de Vence, Gourdon has become a very popular destination for bikers, hikers, and anyone else who desires to       escape the busy coastal cities.
Tourrettes-sur-Loup is another medieval French village located in the south. It is most famous for it’s art and flower displays but has an array of historical sites and monuments. Tourrettes-sur-Loup is located between Vence and Grasse and can only be accessed by car.
Prior to St. Tropez’s rise to fame as an exclusive seaside resort, it was first a small, Provençal-style fishing village that was used as a military stronghold in the early 20th century. Today, St. Tropez is visited by millions of tourists a year to enjoy the good food, beautiful sunshine, and maybe the occasional celebrity sighting.
